William M. Crosby
William M. Crosby is one of the founding partners of Barnes,
Crosby, FitzGerald & Zeman. For over 22 years, Mr. Crosby
has specialized in employment law, primarily representing employees
in discrimination, sexual harassment, wage and hour claims, and
wrongful termination based upon breach of express and implied
contract and public policy claims. Mr. Crosby is recognized as
one of the state’s top employment law attorneys, and was honored
in 2002 as the “Top Gun” Employment Lawyer of the Year from the
Orange County Trial Lawyers Association. He has tried over 40
employment law cases to verdict in the Superior Court of California
and in federal court.
Mr. Crosby was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1971, and
is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Central,
Eastern, Northern, and Southern Districts of California, the U.S.
Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, and the United States Supreme
Court. He has been a member of the Employment Law Panel of the
American Arbitration Association in Orange County, and served on
the Consulting Group to the California State Bar Committee on Legal
Specialization for Certification of Labor and Employment Law. He is
a member of the American Bar Association (Labor and Employment Law
Section; the Orange County Bar Association (Labor and Employment Law
and Business Litigation Sections), where he served as a board member
from 1988 through 1991; the State Bar of California, for which he
served as a Probation Officer and Referee from 1978 through 1994;
the American Board of Trial Advocates (Advocate status); the Orange
County Trial Lawyers Association, where he served as a board member
from 1983 through 1986; the California Employment Lawyers
Association, for which he was a founder and board member from 1986
through 1994; the Consumer Attorneys of California; and the National
Employment Lawyers Association. Mr. Crosby currently serves as a
board member of “Workplace Fairness.” He has been selected by his
peers to be included in the 2006 edition of The Best Lawyers in
America.
Mr. Crosby is also a prolific writer and lecturer on employment law
issues. He has written and lectured to attorneys for the California
Continuing Education of the Bar. He is the author of “Presenting
the Plaintiff’s Case,” Wrongful Termination Practice, CEB 1986, and
the CEB Action Guide “Handling a Wrongful Termination Action.” He
has written articles on employment law and trial practice for the
Consumer Attorneys of California Forum, the Orange County Bar
Association Orange County Lawyer magazine, the Orange County Trial
Lawyers Association newsletter, and the Los Angeles Daily Journal.
Mr. Crosby received his A.B., cum laude, from the University of
California at Berkeley (1967) and earned his J.D. from Loyola
Law School (1970).
